Bálint Karosi (organ)

Dual portrait – this could be the title of this recital, in the first part of which the audience can enjoy delightfully varied organ works or works transcribed for organ by American composers, and in the second part by Hungarian composers. Ever since winning the International Bach Organ Competition in Leipzig in 2008, Bálint Karosi’s career has been on the rise; after his studies at the Liszt Academy, he did his master’s degree in Geneva, in Oberlin in America, and at Yale University (he also took a doctorate at the latter), he has lived in the US for several years and is currently cantor at the St. Peter’s Church, New York, where six years ago he founded a musical ensemble to perform Bach and contemporary works. Thirteen thousand subscribers follow his wide-ranging activities on YouTube. His latest undertaking is performing all organ works by Bach. The programme of his concerts is edited by the world-famous Bach researcher Christoph Wolff.
