Csongor Korossy-Khayll (violin), Balázs Dolfin (cello), Kinga Várallyay (piano)
On this evening, the foundational works of the piano trio repertoire, including compositions by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Schumann, will be performed by three talented musicians. Csongor Korossy-Khayll, a Junior Prima Award-winning violinist and a student at the Liszt Academy’s Doctoral School, is also a founding member and the first violinist of the Korossy Quartet, which reached the finals of the Bartók World Competition. Kinga Várallyay, a pianist and doctoral student at the Liszt Academy, will join the ensemble. Balázs Dolfin, a cellist from a musical family, was awarded the Junior Prima Prize for his talent and dedication, and in 2025, he also received the Cziffra Festival Talent Award.
The concert will feature Mozart’s three-movement Piano Trio in B-flat major, composed in 1786, which is considered one of his most mature works. Mendelssohn’s perhaps most famous chamber piece, the Piano Trio in D minor, will also be performed. This four-movement composition showcases a perfect balance between musical polarities, such as dramatic and lyrical sections. The program will also include Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor, a much darker work. The lively and bold motifs of the opening movement are often considered one of Schumann’s most beautiful sonata movements.
