Yumin Cho (piano)
The concert by Yumin Cho, winner of the 2025 Liszt Competition held annually in Seoul, will feature works by Bach, Schumann, Liszt, and Prokofiev. Despite his young age, the Korean pianist has already participated in numerous competitions and masterclasses in South Korea, Canada and Europe, and is currently continuing his studies at Seoul National University. The matinee concert will feature one of Bach’s preludes and fugues from Das Wohltemperierte Klavier series, which is closely related to Liszt’s fantasy and fugue based on a motif created from the letters of Bach’s name. The concert will conclude with well-known and popular works from the Romantic piano repertoire: Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, a work consisting of eight short character pieces, and Liszt’s “Chasse-neige” étude, as well as Prokofiev’s Sonata with its unusual tone.
