Ábrahám Consort (concertmaster: Márta Ábrahám, artistic director: György Schweigert)

The Ábrahám Consort’s festive concert offers a selection of masterpieces from the first half of the 18th century, centered around Advent and Christmas themes. The evening is framed by two profound works in G minor: Corelli’s Concerto Grosso, composed specifically for Christmas Eve (“Fatto per la notte di Natale”), and Handel’s dramatic Concerto Grosso.

Each half of the programme also features a virtuoso solo concerto. In the first part, we hear Bach’s radiant Violin Concerto in E major, followed in the second half by Vivaldi’s Winter, a work that captures both the biting frost and the sparkling beauty of the season. The soloist for these works is Márta Ábrahám, one of the most versatile violinists in Hungarian musical life and a professor at the Liszt Academy.

The intimate and elevated atmosphere is further enriched by the presence of Atala Schöck, who will perform moving arias from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, bringing a true festive spirit to the stage of the Liszt Academy.
