Kálmán Dráfi (piano)
Featuring: János Balázs (piano)

Liszt Ferenc Prize winner Kálmán Dráfi reaches 65 this year. The career of the pianist, who comes from a multi-generational musical family, is connected to the Liszt Academy in several ways. He completed his degree here between 1969 and 1974, and then he was awarded his doctorate from the university in 2002 with a thesis entitled Dissertation on the musical and technical problems of the piano works of Ferenc Liszt. He has been a teacher at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music since 1977, and between 2011 and August 2020 he was the head of the keyboard and harp department. The concert programme organized to celebrate his birthday embraces a wide span of music history from Liszt through the works of Chopin, Brahms and Debussy to Rachmaninov, and the appearance of a former student of his, the Kossuth Prize holder János Balázs, similarly promises to be a true treat.
