László Borbély and Péter Kiss are original, key members of the generation of pianists who started their career in the 2000s. They both teach at the Liszt Academy. They give solo concerts, play chamber music, and collaborate with symphonic orchestras. They feel equally at home in all periods of music history from Bach to György Kurtág, and both of them are fully committed to contemporary music. The two, however, have never played together in duo.

With Bartók, Ligeti and Péter Eötvös on the programme, their concert illustrates the deep and close connections between the three composers. As they put it, each work “is embedded in infinity, and leads the listener through multiple dimensions.” Ligeti himself called his Drei Stücke für zwei Klaviere (1976) “three-dimensional music, a hologram in imaginary space.”
