A statue by Dantan placed in the Liszt Museum
30 September 2024
A sculpture of Liszt by Jean-Pierre Dantan from 1836 has been purchased with the support of the Horvath Peter Stiftung by the Liszt Museum Foundation from the Galerie bei der Oper in Vienna.
Dantan, a 19th-century French caricaturist, worked both as a graphic artist and sculptor. Today he is best known as a caricaturist, who in addition to Liszt, created caricatures of famous people such as Victor Hugo, Honoré de Balzac, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin and Giuseppe Verdi.
The sculpture can be seen in the Liszt Museum's next temporary exhibition.
