MEETING OF LISZT MEMORIAL SITES IN RAIDING

25 April 2022

On 2 April 2022, the series of joint events organised by the Liszt houses and memorials has continued in Raiding. The aim of the international cooperation is to share the plans and ideas of each site to encourage and support each other.

As part of this aim, Manfred Fuchs, President of the Liszt Society in Raiding, opened an exhibition of Liszt paintings organised by the Liszt Society and Academy of Schillingsfürst and located in the newly established Liszt Library. The paintings were received by the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in early 2019. The opening ceremony had Markus Landauer, Mayor of Raiding, welcome the guests and it featured Gabriel Tritremmel, a student at the Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt. Before the opening, Manfred Fuchs (Raiding), Dr. Martin Czernin (Raiding-Eisenstadt), Hans Emmert (Schillingsfürst) and Dr. Zsuzsanna Domokos (Budapest) reported on past and the future events. Dr. Martin Czernin gave the participants a detailed guided tour of Liszt’s birthplace and the adjacent concert hall. The Liszt library in Raiding now consists of about 4,500 items and is home to monthly thematic concerts, during which historical instruments are brought to life, and a series of activities for young people. A conference is also planned to happen here in October. They also founded a “Liszt Academy” together with the universities of Vienna and Graz. In July, Schillingsfürst will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its own Liszt Academy, to which representatives from Weimar, Budapest, Bayreuth, Raiding and Schillingsfürst are invited in the hope of further developing cooperation.
