April 18th marks the International Day for Monuments and Sites. The event was first held in 1984 and since then it has grown into a worldwide event. The primary aim is not just to nourish preserved monuments and sites but to raise the public awareness of our cultural heritage’s invaluable merit. Several buildings of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music are classified as historical monuments both on national and international level. As an appreciation of the highly successful restoration of the main building it has received the European Heritage Label Site title as well as the Europa Nostra prize in 2015. With tonight’s concert we would like to commemorate the important role of the Liszt Academy as a highly recognized institution and monument not just in Europe but worldwide as well. We would like to entertain tonight’s guests with pieces by distinguished composers from all over Europe to emphasize the fact that although the building itself may be founded in Hungary its reputation is appreciated worldwide. To emphasize the theme tonight’s performers arrived from all over Europe thanky to programs like the ERASMUS+ mobility program among others.
